Community Outreach
Habitat for Humanity:
St. Augustine’s is part of a local alliance called the ELF Coalition (Ecumenical
Labor Force). It consists of 10 churches that band together every year to participate in a joint
effort to build and help fund a home for a deserving family in the Omaha area. It’s an
exceptionally rewarding experience and a very worthy cause. For more information, please contact Ken Pollard at kdpollard@cox.net.
Updates and information about our current home can be viewed by clicking on the "news" tab of this website.
Cope:
COPE (Community Outreach Project of Elkhorn) is an organization which serves the needs of people in the Elkhorn area. They have a clothing and furniture store where people can get the things they need for free. Food needs can also be met by them through the W. Douglas County Food Pantry. We have volunteers working with them. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Fr. Jay at father.jay@sainta.omhcoxmail.com
Food Pantry Volunteers:
The Dean Fricke Memorial Episcopal Food Pantry is a joint venture of the Omaha Area Episcopal churches. Volunteers from the various churches go down to Trinity Cathedral during the month to pack bags of food for the needy. The bags are then given to various groups for distribution. St. Augustines has volunteers packing bags and serving on the Board of Directors. During the month of November we also collect non perishable food items for the pantry. If you’re interested, please contact Deacon Pat Sheldon: patsheldon@cox.net
Red Cross Blood Drive:
Once or twice a year, the American Red Cross Bloodmobile comes to St. Augustines. Members can help by signing up to recruit donors, serve refreshments, and donate blood. Check the "events calendar" for the date and time of our next blood drive!
Millennium Development Goals
The MDGs represent a global partnership that has grown from the
commitments and targets established at the world summits of the 1990s. Responding to the world's
main development challenges and to the calls of civil society, the MDGs promote poverty reduction,
education, maternal health, gender equality, and aim at combating child mortality,
AIDS and other diseases.
