EDUCATION FOR MINISTRY
The Education for Ministry program, or EFM, is a powerful small-group class.
Education for Ministry is a program to let members of the church dive deeply into the Bible, history, and theology together, meeting throughout the "school year," with summers off.
The class meets weekly on Tuesday evenings during the program year from September to May, and involves readings and reflection together. The goal is to hold up scripture, tradition, and history on one hand, and our lived experience on the other hand, and grow more deeply into how we can live as Christ’s disciples today. This program involves some commitment. The full program is four years and includes a certificate from Sewanee, the University of the South. The first two years are spent on the Bible, first the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament), and then the New Testament. Year Three covers Christian history, and then Year Four is on theology. Students share readings and reflections together. There is a cost to enroll, and some scholarships are available. For more information about the EFM program, please speak to our staff or call the parish office at 402-289-4058. |
