YOUTH & CHILDREN'S FORMATION

Youth are an integral part of all that we do at St. Augustine, and we believe that they should be included in worship and fellowship.

Although structured programming is available in-between services, youth are invited to attend and participate in worship at both services. We have many families with kids and young adults of all ages, who gather here to learn, grow, worship, and serve together.

Youth Acolytes
Youth are eligible to train as an acolyte starting in 3rd grade.  The acolyte program invites youth to have an active role in worship and allows youth to take ownership of their worship experience.  They can expect to acolyte about every four weeks on rotation.

Youth Outreach
It is important to us that youth are able to participate in outreach to serve the greater community.  Youth Group performs community service or leads service projects multiple times throughout the year.  Sunday School takes up a weekly offering that is used to support the Christian Outreach Program of Elkhorn’s adopt a family Christmas program and their Back to School Backpack Program.  Other donation drives occur during the year as well.

Youth Sunday
Occasionally, we offer a unique opportunity for our Youth Group to host Youth Sunday.  They lead and perform all possible roles within our worship services including reading the lessons, collecting offertory, assisting with the Eucharist service, leading music, etc.

Canterbury Village
We know that "it takes a village to raise a child," so we have a special volunteer group called Canterbury Village. This is a way for members of the church to support our kids and young people through everything from helping teach classes to providing meals for our youth group to adopting college students in the first years of going forth from St A's into the next steps of their life and faith journeys. If you'd like to help out, contact our parish office at 402-289-4058!
